IGBAJA CHILDREN EDUCATION FUND (I.C.E.F.)

Report on the 1st ICEF GENERAL MEETING HELD @ LGEA PRIMARY SCHOOL B, GAA - AKANBI, ILORIN, KWARA STATE ON 13TH JANUARY, 2013 (SUNDAY).

The Meeting started @ about 3:20pm with 7 people in attendance (Including 3 Principals from Igbaja). It started with Opening Prayer from Alh. Olawuyi (Museco Senior Secondary School Principal) and Mr. Opekun (ECWA Senior Secondary School Principal). Then, Opening remarks was done by Bakare Ridwan Ishola (Initiator of ICEF) where he informed the audience about the aims and objectives of ICEF followed by Response from the audience. Alh. Olawuyi stated "The students don't appreciate education i.e. Knowing the values of education in such a way dat they don't read their books again but instead they are always engaged with Chatting on Social Networking like Facebook, 2go, Whatsapp and so on. He said They lack teachers on some subjects like English Language @ Museco & Chemistry @ ECWA."

In another development, Mallam Ibidokun B. Yekeen (Principal, MUSECO UBE Secondary School) also noted that "There should be an awareness to be done with Parents/Others not to encourage them in settling down in Lagos for Businesses instead of Furthering more in their academics like going for a Degree Programme such as NCE/OND/HND/B.Sc in different courses. He further said that there some beautiful SSCE results belonging to some indigenes in Igbaja that have not been collected till date, waiting for them to collect it and there must urgent awareness to be given to Parents who leave their wards in the hands of their Old Parents who doesn't have the strenght to Take good care of the students Academically, Morally, Socially & Financially."

On the other hand, Mr. D.K.Opekun (Principal, ECWA S.S.S) said "Students now engaged in Gambling and always absent themselves from Classes. He further said that "There must be an arrangement of Special Taskforce and Security Agent sent to Igbaja to deal with Students caught who are found guilty of any crime/indiscipline and Anyone caught should be taken to the Elese's Palace for Severe Punishment to serve as Warning to Others. Sensitization needs to be done with Elders to ensure Prompt Resumption to School as soon as the holiday ends and to plan how to reduce social vices among the students. There are little staffs in the schools and there must be urgent awareness to be given to Politicians in the Town (Like Hon. Moshood Bakare, Hon. Olabode Olayemi & Others) to find a way on how to assist the schools in getting more teaching staffs to be posted to Igbaja as well as to plan a way on how to reduce the level of Illiteracy in Igbaja."

Finally, Comrade Habeeb Bakare said "ICEF needs to get the right medium to reach out to the public and there must be transparency/accountability in all their dealing."

Furthermore, ICEF Initiator told the public about their plans to resolve these numerous problems and told them about their achievements so far. 

Mr. Ibrahim Abdussalam gave the "Vote of Thanks" on behalf of ICEF. 

Closing Prayer was done by Alh. Olawuyi and Mr. Opekun. Meeting ends exactly 4:40pm.

ACQUISITION OF CERTIFICATE BY IGBAJA CHILDREN EDUCATION FUND (I.C.E.F.) ON OCTOBER 2ND,2013

The executives of Igbaja Children Education Fund (ICEF) wishes to inform the general public that we have received our operating certificate from Kwara Government through Kwara State Ministry of Social Welfare Development on October 2nd,2013 at exactly 10:40am. We have published the certificate on our facebook account.
